Here are the July programs and events at the Strongsville Branch Library.

NOTE: All locations of Cuyahoga County Public Library (and administrative offices) will be closed Wednesday, July 4 for Independence Day. All branches and administrative offices re-open for business during regular operating hours on Thursday, July 5.

Year-Round Story Times! Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children Birth to Grade 2.  Our current story time session are in full swing! No registration required.  Join us as we share stories and fun in a group setting! Please call the Strongsville Branch for specific program details.

Genealogy: Best of the Web.  Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m. 

 Turn up the volume on your family history research. Join Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Genealogy Specialist, Joni Mihelich, to learn how to search effectively some of the most popular Genealogy websites including Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest!

 Sidewalk Chalk Art.  Grades K – 5.  Wednesday, July 11 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Help us celebrate Strongsville’s Homecoming Days by decorating the sidewalks around the library.  Pick a square and have fun!  Sidewalk chalk will be provided. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR THIS SCHOOL-AGE SPECIAL.

 Conquer Those Energy Vampires.  Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m.

Feeling drained more than you like? Almost everyone has experienced an energy drain at one time or another.  Once you have ruled out a physical health problem, it’s time to explore how you are interacting with the world around you.  Betsy Muller, author of the book The Energy Makeover: A Conscious Way to Stay Young, Have Fun, and Get More Done!, will share how to identify situations that cause your energy to plummet.  Are there specific people that are sucking away your energy?  Put on your detective hat and explore what’s really happening.  Books will be available for sale and a signing will follow the presentation courtesy of the Friends of Strongsville Branch Library.

 Teen READ/Book Lounge.  Grades 4 – 8.  Thursday, July 12 from 2– 3 p.m.

Join us for a summer book club that will take you on a mission to read great books.  Stop at the Children’s or Teen Desk to register or sign-up online!  Books will be available at the Children’s Desk a month prior to the meeting date.  Pick-up our July 12 book – Breaking Stalin’s Nose by Eugene Yelchin.

 

The Art of Zentangle. For Young Adults and Adults Age 16 and older.  Monday, July 16 at 7 p.m.

Join certified teacher Cathy Zavodny as she instructs us on Zentangle® – an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. Zentangle® increases focus and creativity, and provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. No previous art or drawing experience required. 

Chair Yoga – Good Morning, Strongsville Speaker Series.  Wednesday, July 18 at 10 a.m.

A library open house speaker series of programs for Seniors and residents of Strongsville. Meets every other month throughout the year at 10 a.m. Our July speaker will be the return of “Chair Yoga” with Yoga by Kim.

 Exploration Station: Counting and Comparing.  Thursday, July 19 from 2 – 2:45 p.m.  Ages 3 – 5 with a caregiver. 
Registration begins July 2.

Join us for stories and games about counting and comparing.  Children will be able to explore and develop math skills through play at hands-on learning stations.

Benefits Clinic.  Thursday, July 19 from 3- 7 p.m. 

Together the Cuyahoga County Public Library and the Cleveland Foodbank are offering a free clinic to determine benefits eligibility. A Food Assistance Counselor from the Cleveland Foodbank will be available to answer your questions and help you apply. No appointment necessary.

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Our next meeting is on Monday, July 23.

Join us for our coupon swap club and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers!  Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share.  Share what you don’t want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need!  This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals!  See how others organize and share tips.

Mission is Possible: What Goes Up, Must Come Down.  Grades K – 5 and their Families.  Tuesday, July 24 at 7 p.m.  
Registration begins July 9.

Sunny D. Lite and her henchman Cumulo Nimbus have stolen the greatest treasure in the world!  Where did it go and how can Agent 007 1/2 get it back before it’s too late?   Will the Mission Is Possible Force find the treasure, save the planet and reconcile Mother Nature with her favorite Sun?

They will with your help as a Secret Agent!  Join the M.I.P Force to solve this mystery.  Odds are, you won’t live to see the morrow, unless the treasure is found!

Explore: Grossology  Grades 3 – 5.  Wednesday, July 25 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.  Registration begins July 16.

Through the magic of science learn how to make barf, snot, wounds and explosions. Challenge yourself with grossology trivia and play Gross Bingo. Even enjoy some gross grub. Children will be engaging in messy activities, please wear old clothes and have a parent present to sign the Release and hold Harmless form before the program. 

Patriotic Songs with Judy.  Wednesday, July 25 at 7 p.m. National pride swells to the music that pays tribute to our great country. Join Judy Crawford as she sings patriotic songs to honor the United States.  A musical celebration for all to enjoy!
